South Summit 2026: Building the Future
First day at South Summit Madrid 2026, AImpacto members Ela Alpagut, Anna Shatalova , Fernando Rangel, and Oleksandra Udovenko had the opportunity to engage with entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and innovators tackling this very question.
Among the many conversations and sessions we attended, these are our top themes that stood out and reinforced the mission that drives AImpacto every day.
- Digital Sovereignty in the Age of AI
During Manuel Muñiz’s session on Digital Sovereignty: Power, Infrastructure and Control in the Digital Age, we explored how emerging technologies are reshaping global power dynamics and why nations, institutions, and communities must actively participate in building the digital future rather than simply consuming it.
One key takeaway was that technological leadership is no longer solely about innovation. It is also about access, infrastructure, governance, and the ability to shape the systems that increasingly influence our societies.
- The Human Advantage in the Age of AI
Another highlight was Rafif Srour’s session on Power Skills in the Age of AI: The Evolution of Talent and Performance.
While AI continues to automate tasks and accelerate productivity, the discussion emphasized something equally important: the growing value of uniquely human capabilities. Critical thinking, adaptability, leadership, communication, empathy, and collaboration are becoming increasingly essential in a world where technical tools are more accessible than ever.
- Innovation for Inclusion
One of the most inspiring moments of the summit came from AImpacto VP Claudia Martín Hernández meeting Claudia Bedoya and Ramon Bedoya, founders of LeClau.
Their project uses AI to improve mobility and independence for people with disabilities, demonstrating how innovation can be a powerful tool for accessibility and social inclusion. Their project is a powerful reminder that innovation creates its greatest value when it expands opportunities and removes barriers for those who need it most.
