Artificial Intelligence and Responsible Technology Masterclasses for Secondary Education

active

This project consists of a series of free masterclasses on Artificial Intelligence and responsible technology use, designed for secondary school students in public schools and delivered by experienced professionals from the technology and innovation sector. The initiative aims to introduce Artificial Intelligence into the educational environment through a practical, pedagogical, and responsible approach. The objective is not merely to teach students how to use digital tools, but to help them understand what AI is, how it works at a conceptual level, and how it can be applied thoughtfully in academic and real-world contexts.

Artificial Intelligence and Responsible Technology Masterclasses for Secondary Education

The sessions are designed to:

  • Explain the fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence in a clear and accessible way.
  • Foster critical thinking regarding emerging technologies.
  • Promote ethical, safe, and responsible use of AI-based tools.
  • Demonstrate practical applications that can support learning without replacing intellectual effort.
  • Encourage reflection on the risks, limitations, and opportunities associated with AI in everyday life.

The proposed format consists of one or two dynamic sessions lasting between 60 and 90 minutes each, adaptable to the school’s schedule and specific needs. The masterclasses combine conceptual explanations, real-life examples, practical demonstrations, and interactive discussion to ensure active student engagement.

Content can be tailored to different levels, with particular suitability for students around Year 9 (equivalent to 3rd year of Spanish ESO), who typically have the maturity required to engage with both technical foundations and ethical considerations.

This project reflects AImpacto Rotaract’s commitment to inclusive technological education and to reducing the digital knowledge gap by bringing specialized expertise into public schools that are incorporating AI into their educational strategies.

In a context where technological development advances faster than public understanding of its implications, this initiative seeks to equip students not to become passive users of intelligent systems, but informed individuals capable of understanding, questioning, and using them responsibly.
